US utility PG&E charged with obstructing justice over gas disaster

The utility firm responsible for one of the biggest gas disasters in Californian history has been indicted for obstructing a federal investigation into a pipeline explosion which killed eight people and destroyed or damaged more than 100 homes.Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is the subject of ongoing legal actions in the US from shareholders and regulators concerning the San Bruno explosion in September 2010. The company has been accused by the California Public Utilities Commission of putting profits and executive bonuses before maintenance and safety.The US attorney's office on Wednesday issued a statement confirming that a federal grand jury for the Northern District of California had returned a superseding indictment charging PG&E with obstruction of the investigation into the incident carried out by the National Transportation Safety Board- as well as 27 additional violations of the Natural Gas Pipeline Safety Act of 1968. утилита выключения компьютера
